The Truth About Teeth Whitening with Smile Brilliant
For years I’ve been looking for ways to brighten and whiten my teeth without going to the dentist for an expensive treatment. I am what some people would call dentist-avoidant unless absolutely necessary ( a bad habit I know), so at home fixes as what I’m all about!
I found out about Smile Brilliant and their whitening system and decided to give it a try and share my honest opinion with you! Going into it, there were a lot of common misconceptions I had that hopefully, I can clear up for you below. I tend to promote green beauty and safer non-toxic options, so I was happy to hear their gel is vegetable based and they’re vegan and cruelty-free!
Now that I’ve tried Smile Brilliant Teeth Whitening System for the last month, I can provide some insight into how the process works.

Q: Do results take a long time to show?
After my first whitening treatment only using ¼ of the whitening gel, I noticed results right away. They weren’t extreme right off the bat, but one treatment already cut through some surface stains. After completing the treatment altogether, the differences were phenomenal! I was bad and skipped treatments (because I fell asleep), but if you’re dedicated and committed you’ll see results much sooner after completing treatment.
Q: Do teeth whiteners taste weird?
I was iffy at first, but the whitening and desensitizing gel don’t taste bad. It just tastes like a stronger version of toothpaste, or a cleaner from the dentist.
Q: Is teeth whitening is painful?
This was not my experience at all and I have really sensitive teeth! The process with Smile Brilliant wasn’t painful and I barely felt the molds. Other than talking with a lisp while I whitened, the custom-fitted trays fit perfectly over my teeth and held the gel in well.
Q: Does teeth whitening take a long time?
Okay, to be honest, I struggled with this one. My schedule is pretty jumpy so sometimes I forgot to whiten my teeth every night or even every other night. However, when I really committed to it, it was really easy! Whitening before bed and after dinner is the best time to do it. Once I put the trays in, they fit pretty snuggly and I could continue watching Netflix before bed as usual. Just remind yourself that the process is removing YEARS of stains, so results won’t happen overnight.
Q: How does the process work?
It’s really simple! You send them a mold of your teeth to start and they’ll send back trays to perfectly fit in your mouth. When you’re ready to whiten, first rinse with water, add the trays with the whitening gel and wait 1-3 hours to remove. Brush your teeth as normal and pop in the desensitizing gel in your trays for another 30 min to an hour. After that, you can carry on with your day or head to bed!
